Vaccinations
Vaccinations are essential in preventing diseases and protecting your cat’s long-term health. Providence Animal Hospital will provide you a specific vaccine schedule based your cat’s lifestyle.
- Rabies is required by TN state law and protects you and your cat from a deadly contagious virus. Our hospital policy requires cats to have a rabies vaccination or current titer levels for the safety of our team members. - Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) Feline Leukemia is highly infectious and a common cause of feline cancer.
- FVRCP-FVR refers to feline viral rhinotracheitis (feline herpesvirus 1 or FHV-1). This disease can lead to a severe upper respiratory tract disease, such as rhinitis, sneezing and conjunctivitis).
- The P stands for panleukopenia (feline panleukopenia or feline distemper or FPV). FPV is highly contagious and has a high mortality rate.
- The C in FVRCP stands for calicivirus (feline calicivirus or FCV). Like FHV-1, feline calicivirus causes upper respiratory tract disease and oral ulceration.
- Feline bordetellosis is an extremely contagious upper respiratory disease and it is necessary for all cats that board or go to the groomer.
